Falling for Rodeo

I became a rodeo photographer quite by accident.

Over a decade ago I was asked to shoot a rodeo for my small town newspaper. As Freelance Journalistic Photographer, I accepted the challenge and never looked back. Since that initial photo assignment I have went on to be recognized by not only my community, but throughout the state for my images.

During the 2023 rodeo season, I was selected as MRA (Minnesota Rodeo Association) Rodeo Photographer of the year.

Over the last decade I have received numerous photojournalism awards from the Minnesota Newspaper Association in the area of sports photography,. I find I am always in a friendly competition with my editor, a gifted award wining sports photographer.

Capturing Rodeo, I never thought of myself as a sports photographer. As a lover of the sport of Rodeo, I believe my passion for this sport has shown through as my images continue to be recognized throughout my region.
